Up to two part-time roles as Growkids Session Facilitator

Location: The Vineyard Centre, Charles Burrell Centre, Thetford
Hours: 7 hours per week (Tuesday 12–3pm, Thursday 9:30am–12:30pm, including set up/down and training)
Salary: £12.21 per hour (rising to £12.71 in April 2026)
Accountable to: Victoria Bush (Senior Pastor / Growkids Administrator)
Responsible for: Volunteer sorting team

About Growkids

Growkids is a compassion ministry of Thetford Vineyard Church, providing free pre-loved clothing for children aged 0–12 to families in need across Thetford. Established to respond to childhood poverty, Growkids partners with local charities and support services to bring hope and practical help to the community.

We are now seeking a Session Facilitator to lead this vital service with professionalism, warmth, and faith-rooted compassion.

The Role

As Session Facilitator, you will:

  • Lead two weekly Growkids sessions, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.

  • Open and close the Vineyard Centre as a key holder.

  • Lead prayer at the start of each session.

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers in the sorting team.

  • Welcome clients, sign them in securely, and signpost them to other support services.

  • Manage the play space (toys/books) and uphold health and safety standards.

  • Report safeguarding concerns and incidents appropriately.

  • Participate in planning discussions for long-term strategy and seasonal events.

  • Ensure the space is kept clean and tidy, personally or by coordinating a cleaning team.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Basic IT literacy

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience in client-facing roles

  • Basic safeguarding awareness

  • First Aid trained (or willing to train)

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Hosting and managing communal spaces

  • Experience working with families in challenging circumstances

  • Awareness of mental health support

Requirements

  • Practising Christian faith with intentional discipleship (e.g. active in a Christian community)

  • Enhanced DBS check

  • Safeguarding training

  • Ongoing leadership development training

  • Commitment to Thetford Vineyard Church’s vision, values, and Code of Conduct

Occupational Requirement

In line with the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, this role carries a genuine occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian. The Growkids Session Facilitator will lead prayer, support volunteers in discipleship, and serve clients with compassion rooted in Christian values.
