Our Story

Matt and Tor Bush have lived in Thetford since getting married in 2007. During this time they attended West Suffolk Vineyard Church in Bury St. Edmunds where they encountered God’s love and healing for their lives.

As they sought to maintain busy schedules at work and at home with their two children, they sensed God’s encouragement to shift focus and connect with their neighbours in Thetford. As family life began to outgrow the available space at home, they felt a strong sense that God wanted them to remain in their community rather than move elsewhere. Over the next year, they extended and intentionally re-configured their home to welcome those that God would send.

In 2018 they began to host monthly community meals, building authentic relationships over the dinner table. Here neighbours became friends. Jesus tells us to ‘Love God and love your neighbour’ (Mark 12 vs 30-31). By reorienting their lives in seeking to both love God and those on their doorstep, they have begun a journey of fun and friendship in the Town. From this seed, the vision for Thetford Vineyard Church has grown.
